Westlake Suburb Profile

Westlake sits in Brisbane's south-west beside the Brisbane River, one of the Centenary Suburbs, a pocket known for its greenery, established neighbourhoods and easy access to the CBD. Traditionally, this area forms part of the lands of the Jagera (Yuggera) people, whose country spans across Brisbane's south-west, Ipswich and the Lockyer Valley. About 19 km by road from the city, Westlake offers a peaceful residential setting shaped by water and bushland. The suburb takes its name from the lake created when the area was developed, and later additions brought further lakes and riverside streets. It's a neighbourhood of leafy streets, established family homes and local parks such as Westlake Bush Park on Horizon Drive, with community groups that have long worked to care for the riverfront bushland. The suburb attracts a mix of families, professionals and long-term locals who enjoy its quiet, green outlook. There are no schools within Westlake, but Middle Park State School, Jamboree Heights State School and Centenary State High School are nearby, and everyday shopping is close by at Metro Middle Park and Mt Ommaney Centre. Translink buses 450, 454 and 455 run between Westlake and the city. Residents enjoy a tranquil lakeside and riverside lifestyle within the Centenary area.
